Our Stash
Privacy Policy
Last updated July 6, 2026
Our Stash (“we,” “us”) is a home-inventory app that helps households track what they have so less food and money goes to waste. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can to make the app work.
Our Stash is currently in beta. This policy describes our practices as they stand today and may be updated as the product develops; we’ll revise the “last updated” date when it changes.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email address, provided through sign-in so we can create and secure your account.
- Household inventory — the items, quantities, categories, prices, notes, and expiration dates you add, and the household(s) you belong to or share.
- Receipt and barcode data — when you scan a receipt or barcode, the image or code is processed to extract the items on it. Barcodes are matched against the public OpenFoodFacts product database.
- Notification subscriptions — if you enable push notifications, the browser subscription needed to deliver expiry and low-stock alerts to your device.
- Basic usage and device data — standard technical information (such as request logs) needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
We use your information to run the features you ask for: maintaining your inventory, reading receipts, sending the alerts you enable, sharing a household with people you invite, and improving reliability. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your inventory to serve third-party advertising.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to deliver the app:
- Authentication — a sign-in provider verifies your identity and manages your login.
- Receipt understanding — receipt images are processed by an AI provider to identify the items on them. Images are sent only to perform this task.
- Product lookup — barcodes are checked against OpenFoodFacts, an open, public product database.
- Hosting and delivery — infrastructure providers host the application and database.
Sharing within a household
Households are shared spaces. When you join or invite others to a household, members of that household can see and edit its inventory, shopping list, and related activity. Only share a household with people you trust.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Deleted items are held briefly so you can undo, then removed. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify the personal information associated with it, except where we’re required to keep it.
Your choices
- You can view, edit, or delete your inventory items at any time in the app.
- You can turn push notifications on or off in Settings.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
Children
Our Stash is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
